About
I'm Abhishek, an infrastructure engineer based out of Bangalore, India. I work across the layers other engineers build on top of: cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes at the base, platform tooling and CI/CD above that, and observability across all of it. A lot of the job is operational: keeping things running, working out why they aren't, and making them less painful to run the next time. I also do backend work, in Go and Python, when a service needs building or fixing.
I care about self-service: I try to build things so other engineers can get what they need without waiting on me, and to keep that tooling simple. This blog is where I write down what I learn, often from the times things don't go to plan.
What I work on
- Infrastructure & platform: Terraform, Ansible, GitHub Actions and AWS. Provisioning, CI/CD, and the day-to-day tooling teams rely on.
- Observability: Prometheus, Grafana, Mimir, Loki and OpenTelemetry. Metrics pipelines, alerting people actually trust, and keeping cardinality and cost under control.
- Backend services: Go and Python. Query libraries, billing and identity APIs, and notification systems.
Open source
- Frontier — identity and billing platform for B2B SaaS.
- Siren — an alert-management service for Prometheus-based HA observability servers.
